Ambrosio Tovar Bio
Originally from the coastal bend area of Corpus Christi, my family moved to the Rio Grande Valley at the tender age of 11.And so, the RGV has been home ever since. Upon my high school graduation, I enlisted in the U.S. Army for three years. After serving in the Army, I started my undergraduate studies at Texas Southmost College and Pan American University in Brownsville, TX. majoring in the discipline of Business Administration. During my service time in the Army, I gained and obtained experiences that motivated me to enlist with the U.S. Navy Reserves upon my collegegraduation where I served for six years.
While in the Navy Reserves, I also worked as an auditor with a local CPA firm in Brownsville, Texas. After that, I applied at Texas Southmost College as a staff accountant in the Business Office and worked there till my next employment at Texas Technical Institute where I was employed as an Accounting Supervisor.An opportunity to work with a private non-profit program called Neighbors In Need Of Services which operated the Head Start Program in Cameron and Willacy County came along. I worked with them for 10 years until an opportunity to work for the Head Start Program in Hidalgo County opportunity arose. I quickly took that leap and was fortunate to be hired as the
Procurement Director in February of 2004.Looking back, I am very grateful for the opportunity and years of experience that I have gained by working with this Program. Hidalgo County Head Start Program is the bestProgram of its kind.
